Powder Hopper Cleaning
Quote from Reloader on January 1, 2014, 7:16 pmI've just switched from Win 748 to IMR 4064 (in desperation) for rifle loads. During cleanup after loading 50 rds of 308 Win I noticed a very strong odor from the powder hopper. A small quantity of 4064, in a shallow dish, does not have this odor. I suspect that the strong odor is coming from a reaction of 4064 with 748 residue in the hopper or a reaction with the hopper plastic itself. Questions are: 1) Do my suspicions hold any merit? 2) If so, the best method for cleaning the hopper? 3) Do you have any other ideas or suggestions?

Always help to remove all powder after each loading session. This prevents caking of powder and help maintain powder quality. Might help with your smell problem.
