powder measure drop tube length
Quote from Reloader on January 26, 2020, 2:22 ami have a older SD that came with a few sets of dies that might or might not be complete and an older (pre-failsafe) measure. the D powder through expander listed for 38spl and 357mag doesn't bell the mouth of 38spl even with the powder die screwed in as far as the threads will let it go. is there a length differance in the drop tube length between failsafe and pre failsafe?

Quote from Reloader on January 28, 2020, 12:22 amThere was a length difference between the manually operated measure funnels, and the automatic measure funnels, as well as a difference between early 550 funnels and early Square Deal funnels. We had to add a bushing to the top of the early 550 funnels to make them long enough to cycle in the Square Deal. Eventually we lengthened the 550 funnel to work in both loaders, and discontinued use of the spacer bushings.
It was just enough difference so that the shorter funnels worked for 357, but not for 38 Special
