Powder Measure Fail Safe Assy.

Just want to get some assurance that I have my 550B Auto power measure set up correctly.  After following the directions and rechecking, I now have it all together BUT I am concerned that the LOCK-LINK (part 17838) contacts the powder measure housing on both the charging and return strokes.  The contact is made between the slightly curved "ear" protrusion of the lock-link and the vertical square framed extension of the powder measure body.  It gives a slight "bump" to the whole powder measure assy.
Is this metal to metal contact normal?  Will it cause wear to the two parts?  Does it have an adverse effect on powder charge consistency?

Also, was the linkage greased at the factory or is that something that I should do before loading many cartridges.  I note a zerk fitting.  Is that all the greasing required or should this all be dissasembled and greased?

Thanks
Chuck Clark

The locking link is supposed to bump against the corner of the powder measure body, this is normal, and helps to keep the powder settled and charges consistant. The blue wing nut should be tight enough that when the handle is pushed forward to seat a primer, the coil spring above the blue wing nut is partially compressed.

The machine was thoroughly lubed before it left here, I would worry about it in 9-12 months or so.

This forum rocks, same question and now have good answer.

I have the same problem on a Square Deal B. When the link clears the powder measure body it causes the powder measure to jump and make a loud pop. I plan on contacting Dillon service tomorrow and understand if I set up something wrong. I don't think the jump and popping noise should occur.
