Powder Measure Problem

I have two problems that I am currently having with my powder measure. I am using CFE223 powder. The first problem is that I have it opened up all the way and can only get 21.2 grains of powder. The second is that when I return the handle to the up position, I get a bunch of powder dropping out of the powder funnel and all over the machine. It does this no matter how slowly I go. I am sure I don't have something just right but what? Thanks

2 things. You might have to disassemble the powder drop and install the large one that will dispense a greater amount. Adjust your powder drop die to ensure the case mouth is flush up against the bottom. Also make sure that the wing nut at the bottom of the powder drop arm is tight enough so that it compresses the spring when the handle is fully pulled. Hope this helps. If the wing nut is not tight enough the powder drop bar is not making a full stroke thus not allowing enough powder to drop.

I will have to check on a larger powder drop after I get some time to mess with it some more. My case is pushing the the powder measure up so I would say it is flush with it. My wingnut spring is touching the white plastic keeper when the arm is in the upright position. If I push down on the powder measure while I am returning the arm to the up position it does not drop powder everywhere.

I found that running a spring from where the curved part of the powder rod goes through the two levers on the hopper and secured it to the desk. This pulls the levers down at the same time as the shell plate lowers. No more powder raining all over the place and the loads are now more consistent. The spring only needs to have light tension until the shell place is half way down. I bought a cheap spring at the hardware store. I hope this helps.

Check the funnel inside the powder measure and make sure it’s not upside down. Also make sure it’s for the correct caliber. Seems dumb, but I’ve been reloading forever, and I had the same issue when I switched to a new press/ powder measure
