Powder measures
Quote from Reloader on March 15, 2009, 1:41 amI have recently purchased 2 new powder measures for my 650, I have had major trouble getting these two measures to work. I have 12 years reloading experence using Dillion eq, so I don't think it is my inexperence. In both cases I cannot get the measures to drop the correct amount of powder on a consistant basis. I may get it set where I need it to be and may get 3 or 4 rounds loaded and then no powder for 3 or 4 rounds. I have removed the powder measures from the powder die and have checked for cleaniness, and function. All seems to be good. Last night I took one completely apart again everything seems to be good.
Have the designs been changed in the last couple of years? I have 4 or 5 other older powder measures that work great all the time. I just hate changing my setting all the time for differnet calibers.
I plan to work on this problem in the morning, Monday I may call dillion direct.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
MJC

Quote from Reloader on April 18, 2009, 1:27 pmHello! I would suggest you google dillon powder measures or dillon powder measure problems and see what turns up. I have read several blogs about problems. One fellow polishes all parts of his to the nth degree. Another suggested using after market adjustment systems. These are pricey, but readily available. I load mid range of powder recommendations on a 550B and SDB. I usually have (+-).2 during a loading session, so it doesn't bother me. If I get anal about a hunting load that has to be precise, I use my old Redding measure and a trickle tube.
