Powder mess at station 3

Hi Gang

Purchased an XL650 and sent it right off to Dillon for refurbishing.  Works great except for one irritating problem while loading .45 acp.

When the shellplate indexes and the case containing powder arrives at station 3, I get powder jumping out all over the place when the shell plate clicks into place.  I'm using very light loads (3.5 grains of bullseye powder) which does not take up very much volume at all.

No such problem on my brand new 650.

Any suggestions??

clip a half a coil off the detent ball spring.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll give this a try. Already tried adjusting and re-adjusting the shell plate bolt several times without success.

Thanks again

Hi fpfiglia, to avoid the mess at station # 3 cut the index spring 1/3, and it will solve the problem.

Ciao Raoul

the xl 650 is a great machine!

I was having the same issue, I took a little off the detent ball spring and it solved the problem.
