Powder spillage with rifle cases
Quote from Reloader on October 27, 2015, 3:19 pmHello all you rl550 gurus.. I seem to have an issue. Using my 550 with dillon powder die and insert, dillon PM, yada yada.. I'm getting powder spillage when I charge my 30-06 cases. doesnt seem to matter at all how long I leave the ram up, as I draw it down, I get a little spillage. The speed I lower my ram doesnt seem to matter either. Its almost like the PM is dropping some on the lower or some is finding a ledge somewhere to sit until I lower the ram.
No obvious machining errors on the powder funnel. The PM has done this since new. Yes, it does appear to be fully actuating.
Any other suggestions? Does dillon make a funnel that very slightly bells the case mouth and/or sits inside the case mouth (with a step to let the case actuate the PM still)?

Quote from Reloader on October 27, 2015, 6:58 pmWe don't offer a flaring funnel for 30-06. It could be static. Use a sryer anti-static sheet, wipe the interior of the hopper, then cut a narrow strip from the dryer sheet and run it down the interior of the tube until it reaches the metal base. Fold the excess over the top and secure it in place with tape. Then pour your powder back in.
