Powder Splash
Quote from Reloader on May 16, 2010, 11:11 pmNew 650 is running great. I am getting a little powder splash when it indexes. Would you recommend cutting 1/2 coil off the spring?

The spring in question is under the detent ball which hold the shell plate at a station. Remove your shell plate, use a magnet to remove the ball and in the hole is a spring. Follow the instructions in this thread.
Have a great Fourth of July !

I too just received the 650XL my wife bought for my birthday and finished getting it set up last night. Having about 30+ years of single stage experience made for an easy start to progressive loading and the only thing I couldn't work out was the powder splash. I thought to do a quick search and found the answer in this thread.
Thanks. Tomorrow I'll work on double checking the shell plate at station 4 and cutting the spring if necessary.
