Primer assembly issues
Quote from Reloader on December 13, 2013, 1:59 amI just started having issues with the primer assembly after reloading approximately 3500 rounds of ammo. What happens is the primer indexing arm does not always return to its normal position after the handle is pulled. Since it does not spring back, the next time the handle is pulled, the rotary primer disc does not turn.
My thought is maybe something is wrong with the index arm spring since it doesn't return the indexing arm fully back to its normal position. I have taken it off, cleaned and oiled it.
Might it be time to replace the spring? How long to they last? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Quote from Reloader on December 13, 2013, 2:59 pmDry lube is better than oil (Hornaday one shot). The oil collects dirt. If you pull the handle until the primer index arm is clear, can you index it by hand? Does the it return back?
If not sounds like the primer index arm is bent. My spring has never been replaced and have loaded 100,000s. The spare parts kit I think has both the primer index and spring. Is the '13832 Index Arm Bowed Washer' still bowed?
With the primer assembly off the machine , you should be able to index smoothly. The index should almost spring back. You can always call dillon when you are in front of the loader, or with assembly in hand to discuss with them.

Quote from Reloader on December 13, 2013, 4:24 pmAfter pulling the handle I sometimes have to physically pull the primer indexing arm back to its original position because it doesn't spring back all the way. If I do that, then I can index it by hand with no problem.
When I have it off the machine I have the same issue. I can index it by hand but maybe 2 out of 10 times, it doesn't spring back and I have to pull it back to its starting position.
I will use dry lube in the future. Thanks for your input.
