Primer dropping issues
Quote from carver.osu on April 15, 2024, 2:01 amI have a RL-450 and only half of the primers drop and then they stop loading into the primer cup. What could be the issue besides a primer getting hung in the magazine?
thanks

Cut a small (3/8" x 3/8") cloth patch, wet it with alcohol, and push it through the tube a few times to clean it. Next, hold the magazine tube upright on the bench, with the plastic magazine tip resting on the top of your bench. Drop one primer shiny down into the tube. Listen for it to slide down. Gently pick up the tube. The primer should be resting on your bench. If it isn't, then replace the plastic magazine tip.
Finally, make sure the primer cup and punch are bottomed out in the primer slide. If the set screw has loosened, then the cup will be too high to slide under the primer as the slide is retracted.

Quote from Yakima Red on April 17, 2024, 3:12 pmExcellent advice. I also found one of my tubes was off center slightly causing intermittent feeding issues. Make sure they are straight.
I converted my 450 to a 550B and never looked back. I replaced everything but the frame. I prefer this to having a lot of tool heads stacked on the bench. Everyone has their preferred method.
Hoped this helped.
