Primer Early Warning Modification
Quote from Reloader on December 22, 2013, 3:57 pmMy dad gave me a Dillon SDB that used to belong to my uncle with the primer early warning system. When I examined where the battery was I found the battery had leaked ruining the switch and the spring connected to the buzzer. When I contacted customer service I was told I would have to purchase a new early warning system as the original was covered by a 1 year warranty which had clearly passed (the date on the manual was 10/97).
I did purchase a new system even though it was back ordered, but thought there must be a way to repair the ruind one. So I removed all of the parts from the housing, cleaned it as best I could and went searching the Internet for a replacement switch. Finding one at Allied Electronics (alliedelectronics.com) and ordering 3 and a trip to my local RadioShack to purchase a AC/DC power adapter, female plug for the adapter and a new buzzer.
Here are the results:

Total cost of parts was close to a new early warning system which was delivered the same day I modified the original one.
