Primer Feeder

I have been reloading with .38 special for cowboy action loads. I bought my RL 550B about 4 months ago. This is my second RL 550B. The one previous was in 1990. Needless to say I am having too learn the machine and the nuances again.

I am having some trouble changing from small pistol to large pistol primers with respect to the feeder. For some reason the adjustment for fine turning the location of the round feeder for large pistol through the loading plate is not fine enough it seems, because no manner of adjusting back or forward will give me the exact match and it results in the feeder hitting the plate when the plate is lowered so I can put in a new primer. It makes for rough reloading and no fun at all.

I have been able to adjust my .38 special and the small primer feeder just fine so I know it is possible to have a smooth reload... I was just curious if this is an issue that other face when changing to a large pistol primer feeder?

Thank you,
Jon

Typically no adjustment is needed when swapping from small to large primers. Visually compare the two primer slide assemblies and see if the cup and punch are tipped.
