Primer feeder problem
Quote from Tony_McRae on January 2, 2026, 1:54 amHi all.
I have the weirdest problem with my primer feeding on my XL750Config:
9mm, Remmington small pistol primers, ADI AP70 powder (I am in Australia), 135g LRN proj, new PPU brass.
Problem:
I have been reloading on this XL750 for years in 9mm and 38SC as I am an IPSC pistol competitor. It has worked brilliantly all that time.
Yesterday it suddenly stopped feeding primers.
It has done this before with the usual reason being one has fallen over preventing the carrier from moving to the right position.
I pulled the feeder tube off as I have done many times before and sure enough a primer was stuck in there sideways.
I removed it and reassembled the feeder.
The slide was now jammed solid and would not move.
I loosened off the two thumb screws at the bottom and it would move but not as freely as previously.
I pulled the whole thing apart and put a light smear of lanolin on it.Still not working.
I placed a small piece of card between the black plate and the bottom of the feeder and now it moves but will not feed.
I replaced the blue tip on the feeder tube. No difference.
I pulled it completely apart and cleaned everything looking for a grain of powder or whatever that was causing the problem. No difference.
If I put pressure on the rod that sits on the primers I can feel a solid click as it feeds in a primer to the cup put it requires way to much pressure.
I looked at each component and readjusted them to the initial setup positions which actually did not change anything.
I am now officially stumped.
It seems weird that this just happened in the middle of a reloading run. The primers were half full and of the 50 new brass I had reloaded 17 when this happened.Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.....

Must have been climate change 🙂
