Primer interferes with shell plate

I just switched to the 550C from the Square Deal. I'm noticing that when the handle is at rest, the primer (in the cup) protrudes high enough to interfere with the turning of the shell plate. I have to pull the handle slightly to get the shell plate high enough to clear the primer so that I can move it to the next station.

Am I missing a washer perhaps? Is there a fix for this?

Thanks!

Under normal circumstances, there will never be a primer in the cup when you index the shellplate, as you have just seated it into a primer pocket.
If loading one at a time, the primer will protrude high enough to interfere with rotation of the shellplate.

I DO load one at a time. Is there a work-around for this problem?

To clarify.... I load one at a time whenever I setup for a change in caliber for about the first twenty rounds. Then I switch to full shellplate.

Just pull the handle down slightly so the shellplate is above the top of the primer before indexing; alternatively you could remove the wire op=rod that moves the primer slide back and forth, effectively making your primer feed a manually operated one. Once you intend to progressively load, reinstall the op=rod.

I usually add some tension to the bottom adjuster of the failsafe rod on the powder measure. Usually if it adjusted correctly, it will help hold tension up on the shellholder.
