Primer Issue
Quote from Reloader on July 29, 2012, 10:18 pmI have a Dillon Square Deal that I purchased about 10 years ago (May be a "B", maybe not, but it IS a SD). Its been a long time since I last used it, so I had to refer to the Manual that I downloaded from the Dillon Website. I reload .45 Colt caliber for SASS participation.
The problem I'm having is that the primers are not dropping down and seating into the brass. I might add that I'm using the same components that I used the last time I used this press, so it's not a matter of incompatible primers.
It may be as simple as cleaning out the primer tube, but I would like some step by step instructions if possible. As I mentioned, it has been a long time, and my reloading skills are a bit lacking, to put it mildly.
Thanks

Quote from Reloader on July 30, 2012, 3:48 pmStart by unbolting the primer feed, dumping the primers out, and removing the low primer alarm. Next, unscrew the knurled cap and remove the primer magazine. Cut a small cloth patch, wet it with alcohol, and push it throught the magazine tube several times to clean it. Inspect the plastic tip, be sure it isn't deformed. Drop one primer through the tube, making sure the primer passes freely through the plastic tip. Reinstall the magazine, making sure to rotate the tube so the aligning ridge at the bottom of the tip aligns with the groove inside the housing. Screw the knurled cap back on just snug. Test by dropping one primer into the magazine, slide the follower rod in place, and push the slide in by hand and be sure it picks up a primer.
