Primer not seating
Quote from Reloader on September 1, 2017, 9:46 pmI am having some issues with primers not seating all the way in resulting in not going all the way into battery and not going bang. I believe some of the primer pockets are tighter than others (I use CCI primers with a mixed bag of 9mm brass). Happens about 4-5 times out of a 100.
Just how hard can you safely push when seating the primers? When I have a primer that sticks out unusually far, I pull the bullet, then try to re-seat the primer further in. Sometimes this works, sometimes not.

Quote from Reloader on September 2, 2017, 4:36 amJust out of curiosity, have you checked that some of the cases may have a military crimp? A habit I have is, to ream primer pockets on all 9mm range pickups. Some don't need it, and it does not hurt to do so. But that way I catch them all.
Gives me a chance to check them good for those stepped cases that seem to show up more often. Those I pitch.

Quote from Reloader on January 30, 2018, 4:29 pmYes a swagger will work on military crimped brass OR check headstamps and discard any NT brass and save yourself the headache of trying to force primers in crimped brass.
I collect oncefired brass from a police shooting range. All their brass is NT headstamped. So, I bought a Dillion swager and can reprime the .40 s&w and 9mm easily. It is good brass but cannot be reprimed without swaging.

Quote from Reloader on May 16, 2018, 1:16 amI can push on mine pretty hard
the secret is not to push suddenly but a firm steady push will do it.
sometimes I'll take the case and rotate it so the primer will seat fully.
