Primer Seating Depth
Quote from Reloader on May 24, 2017, 2:13 amIs there a way to adjust the primer seating depth on a SDB? I never had issues loading 40sw. Now I am loading 9mm and having light primer hits sometimes. It seems they are seated further in and can come out a little.

Quote from Reloader on May 24, 2017, 3:22 pmThe anvil of the primer needs to be against the bottom of the primer pocket for consistent ignition. If you try not seating them all the way, then your firing pin will have to do that work. And that may also lead to inconsistent ignition.
I would check your length and make sure your brass is not too short. Check to be sure that you are not crimping too much and the round is going to far into the chamber. There should be no roll crimp with with semi-auto rounds as they chamber on the case mouth. (You may already know this. Some do not think of it.) Tear the gun down and clean it really good. Maybe the firing pin is gummed up. Check or replace springs.
That's all the ideas I have to solve it. Good luck.

THIS IS ONLY FOR INFORMATION, DO THIS AND YOU WILL DIE BY HAVING 100 CAMELS SIT ON YOU:

I have put them back in the machine and removing the primer at station 2, give the handle a good push to seat it.
I have a bench mounted primer seater I use sometimes, too.
IF I TAKE IT SLOW THERE IS NO PROBLEMYMMV

Quote from Reloader on September 1, 2017, 5:33 pmI too am having some issues with primers no seating all the way in resulting in not going all the way into battery and not going bang. I believe some of the primer pockets are tighter than others (I use CCI primers with a mixed bag of 9mm brass). Happens about 4-5 times out of a 100.
Just how hard can you safely push when seating the primers? When I have a primer that sticks out unusually far, I pull the bullet, then try to re-seat the primer further in. Sometimes this works, sometimes not.
