Primer seating not deep enough

Hello, I purchased a Dillon 550C, and I picked up recently an older 550 possibly the B series. On my newer 550 I had loaded successfully for the first time (still relatively new to reloading) 243 Winchester. I then tried to switch it to 223/556, setting up the new die heads as needed but when I tried to seat the small rifle primers they never seemed to seat flush or under the primer cup lip. I test them not only by digital caliper but also by placing the primed shell onto a glass even surface. They always seem to be just a hair above the primer cup level, I tried adjusting the tension on the rod sitting next to the primer tube as well. But I’m at a loss, has anyone had issues with the auto priming not seating them deep and enough?

Also I did switch it to the small rifle primer when changing it to 5.56 from 243 win.

I am having the same problem with my 550C. I just got a second brand new small primer seating assembly from Dillon. The primer seating punch only comes up flush with the primer seating cup - it's like the shellplate doesn't come down far enough when the handle is fully extended. The first new primer seating assembly did the same thing. I pulled the shellplate, cleaned it, reset it, checked the wingnut, checked the shellplate shelf screws... everything I could think of and more, from advice found on this thread. The press has worked fine for the past couple of years. I can't figure out what's wrong. Looks like another call to Dillon tomorrow.
