Primer Slide Bearing
Quote from Reloader on November 13, 2011, 7:21 pmFor some time now my SDB has been very rough on the down stroke. I chased the problem to the primer slide bearing being goughed and roughed up.. (my SDB has an estimated 100,000 reloads on it since 1992)
I have smoothed the rough spots, and it will work pretty good for a few hundred rounds. However last night the handle wouldn't budge. Took it a part and found the the small rails on the primer slide bearing had broken off.
I need a new primer slide bearing. For a quick fix, I thought I would just take the oold bearing off the small primer slide and replace with primer slide bearing from my unused large primer slide.
No dice... I bent the primer slide return pin trying to get the bearing off. I can't figure out how to replace the bearing without destroying it as the return pin won't come out... Help.

Quote from Reloader on November 14, 2011, 3:21 pmWhen changing the slide bearing, don't remove the pin. Unwrap the bearing from the top of the slide first, pulling it off the top and end, then off the bottom of the slide. The replacement bearing goes on in the reverse. Spread the bearing open, slide it over the bottom pin first. Then wrap it around the rear of the slide, and onto the top. We use a plastic hammer, like a bullet puller, to seat the bearing around the short top of the pin. Phone, or mail us with your address and we'll send a replacment primer slide and bearing.
