primer slide travel

short of me sending my old machine back Ill post this hack.

the primer slide would travel to the rear, but not let a primer drop from the tube.

there is an overtravel screw for this, that did nothing, there is no wear on the incline that cams the slide reaerward.

so,i measured the wheel diameter and other dimension from old and new slide units, both the same.

If i  manually pulled back the primer slide maybe .010",id get a primer.

so, I just built up the wheel diameter with clear tape to plus .020", and now it comes back far enough to feed.

Is there another adjustment im missing, thats not in the manual?

#9,8,23,22  overtravel block/bolt assy.

can this be overtightened, causing a short stroke?

You cannot overtighten the overtravel block. There is a burr at the bottom of the roller ramp which is preventing the overtravel block from springing out completely. Below is our video dealing with this issue.

yes I did that procudure already.

for the sake of it, i went back in a second time and really had at it.  still no change.

what i did notice ,running my fingernail across the face of the block, is a small step .

[perhaps .005"deep]

is there a video to get at this piece for replacement?  thanks!

There is not a video to drop the shaft, but it is straightforward. No readjustments are required.

  1. Detach the primer feed body from the front of the loader, set it aside.
  2. Detach the loaded cartridge chute from the right side of the frame. Put the screws back into the frame to prevent loss.
  3. Remove the screws and bushings from both linkarms. Leave the link arms in place for now.
  4. If your machine is bolted directly to your benchtop, remove the 3 mounting bolts. If your loader is on a strong mount, skip this step.
  5. Using a 3/8" wrench, unscrew the camming bolt. It is threaded into the frame about one inch below the machine mounting flange.
  6. Now remove both link arms.
  7. The main ram and handle assembly can now be pulled down and out of the frame.
  8. While removed, grease the corner bearings inside the frame, the bottom of the index lever.
  9. Reassemble in the reverse. To reinstall the camming bolt, the shaft must first be installed, and the link arms attached. Pull the handle down to fully elevate the shaft in the frame. Grease the smooth shank of the camming bolt. Only now can the camming bolt be reinstalled into the frame.
