Primer system troubles
Quote from Reloader on March 7, 2011, 2:32 pmAfter switching over to small primes it seems like the system is out of sync. Every rotation of the primer disc comes up a hair short, causing me to be unable to seat the primer. When I take it off and reset it then it seems to work fine for 4-5 rotations and then the same problem occurs.
I have tried everything in the manual with regards to troubleshooting but to no avail. I've inspected the whole system and I can't find anything that may cause this problem.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I'm burning through my ammo stash like a mad man 🙂

Quote from Reloader on March 7, 2011, 11:10 pmDid you adjust the Primer Station Locator Tab set screw so that the Primer Station Locator Tab is just barely off the case to be primed?
If it's not in the correct position, the case can move a bit and not quite line up with the primer punch.

Quote from Reloader on March 8, 2011, 11:42 pmI have adjusted the locator tab. If I index it manually it rotates to the correct position. When it's rotated by the press it's coming up just short. To clarify the problem i'm having the primer punch cannot even get through the hole in the disc. Thanks for the help it's appreciated!

Quote from Reloader on March 10, 2011, 3:17 pmIt sounds like the black nylon cam that pushes the primer index arm around is worn. test by shimming it out using a business card. If this corrects it, call Dillon for a replacement.

Quote from Reloader on March 26, 2011, 10:45 amHi Folks,
sorry for tuning in and my bad english.
I'm a user from germany and after a year of reloading i had a primer explosion. Dillon send me a lot of spare parts (thanks a lot for the service) and now i tried to reload 9mm.
But my primer systems (the small primer plate) stuck. It turns nice if i hold the system in my hand, but mounted it turns a little bit before the primer punch und the rest (like the thikness of a hair) i had to index it manually. I changed, the plate, the detent ball, the springs. Even the primer cam. Nothing works. I changed the large system into small...
Season 2011 starts, please help me.
Thanks
Stefan
