Primers

I know someone has asked this question before, and I looked through the forum but I didn't see it any where. Just didn't want someone to answer it twice.  Today (5/09) it seems no primers are to be had anywhere. I have some large pistol primers on the shelf but no large pistol mag primers. I want to load some rounds for my 44 mag, but might be better to ask before loading rounds with large pistol primers. Does anyone know if doing this will be safe?  Thanks Guys,  Mike Dill

Magnum primers are necessary for some, but not all powders. W-296, H-110, AA-9 all require a magnum primer. Other appropriate powders ignite fine using a standard primer. Winchester large pistol primers are suitable for both standard and magnum applications.

I've decided to just use magnum primers for all my pistols these days... I just received 20K of large pistol magnum primers in a couple of weeks ago and have another 20K of small pistol magnum primers that should be in within the next week or so... I reload for 9mm, .38special, .357mag, ..357SIG, 40SW, .44special, .44mag, and. 45ACP...
