primers not on seating cup

I am also having a problem with occasionally on my 550b, a primer does not drop down on the cup. this happens often. I have the magazine turned and dropped into the notch at the bottom. I read that the slide pickup adjustment screw should be turned and 1/8" at a time to adjust, but which way do I turn it to start, counter clockwise or clockwise? And is this the answer?

First, after the handle is down on the machine, see if you can pull the primer slide back further by hand. If yes, does it pick up a primer?
