primers not seating

using 40 s&w speer casing primers will not seat, when i try to seat them the casing goes sideways and flys out of the machine.using winchester primers

Check your shell plate it should be #5 for the 40 S&w. I had this happen
after loading 38 special and forgot to change shell plate.

Thank you so much. New to reloading and was not aware that the shell plate needed changed. was set up for 45 acp. ordered my plates so hopefully that will be all my troubles.
