Primers - on the floor

I am happy with my 650, but wish I did not have to clean up after using it. It is throwing spent primers on the floor (desk, stand, etc).
After checking other forums it appears there is too much gap around the narrow point of the cup (where the primer drops). Does Dillion have a suggestion / fix for this issue?
Thanks

I don't think they do.  But there are at least 7 different fixes.  The best one is to increase the height of the cup with folded black electrical tape around the front end of the cup.  I have tried it and it does work really well, but over time the tape lets go.  What I have found is that the cup tends to move out after repeated actions of the press.  I push on the back of the cup every 50 rounds or so.   This seems to work pretty good and reduces the amount of spent primers on the floor.

My XL650 does the same thing.  A "dam" of electrical tape around the end of the cup helps but doesn't fix it completely.

Funny but the old SDB I had with the spent primer cup under the press didn't have the problem but I'll bet the newer SDB presses with the same spent primer cup design as the XL650 does.  That's "progress".

This is the one issue I have with this press. On other forums users have come up with solutions.

One that I will explore soon is to take a 10mm/40S&W case, cut the base off, cut "petals" on one end and slide it into the slot on the bracket so it is held right next to the primer discharge point. Once in place attach a piece of clear vinyl tube and route the primers down to a catch bottle.

My intent is to drill a hole in the bench so the tube can drop the primers in a catch bucket below the bench top. Because the tube will move up and down with the ram, my plan is to make the hole large enough so it can move freely.

I made a similar "contraption" years ago to catch the finished rounds from a Pacific 366 Shotshell loader so I expect it to work great.

My Pre 95 xl 650 is a messy primer spitter as well. Annoying.
I recently started reloading again after a long decade plus absence from
shooting so am warming my XL650 back up and re-learning the quirks.
The primers puking out makes me want to put short shag on the concrete
floor out in the garage where the machine lurks. That way they wouldn't bounce so far away.

I like the idea the poster prior to me put forth.

Sounds like it just might work.!

I even have some tubing laying around that would work. Now just need
to scarf up a 10mm case from the local range.

I had the same problem, I used the case feed tube off a lee pro 1000 warmed the end of it up a touch with a heat gun to make it shrink fit tight into the hole the primers drop through. Then with a good deal of care warmed it up to curve around to be out of the way as the ram cycled and used a second piece to go through a hole in the bench down to a small $2 shop plastic trash can..... should be worth a few $$ when its full of brass primer carcases.

I had tried the soft plastic tube but it's internal diameter was too small and large primers would jamm up in it as it would kink a little with the cycling of the ram.

Cheers
