Priming Problems

Let me start out by saying I had a super 1050 a while ago and sold it and downgraded to the XL650 and recently sold that only to come back to the super 1050 so I am very rusty with the super 1050 and am stuck with trying to get the primer mechanism to work. Everything on this machine is working perfectly with the exception of the primer arm/cam assembly. It comes forward when I press the presses lever down and but it only goes back some of the way when I let the level back up so the primer slide lever end up not going far enough back for the tool head ratchet assembly to slip into the groove. I have taken apart the primer assembly and made sure that everything is clean and the primer slide is moving freely. It does not feel as if there are any snags in the movement of this. The slide rollpin sleeve is not in the best of shape but I do not think this is the problem. Please help!!!
I had to use the manual to get these terms because like I said I'm rusty with this press so I apologize in advance if I made a mistake.

If this is an older Super 1050, be sure there is a rubber sleeve on the roll pin at the rear of the primer slide. This rubber sleeve is 1/8" automotive vacuum hose, available at any auto parts store. That , or the height of the cam/arm assembly are the most likely causes.
