Priming system problems

PreviousPage 3 of 3

I've just finished 200 rounds on my new 750 and the white wheel was hitting the primer feed frame too. At first I thought I had dodged the problem but after 100 rounds the issue arose. I bent the operating rod which appears to have fixed the problem. The wire rod is a bit weak and I wonder why the guys at Dillon haven't used a more robust material for the rod or added a spring/washer behind the white wheel.

Received my Dillon 750 just the other day, had the same issues with the primer indexing roller. Read this was thinking about bending it also, but instead loosened the anchor attached to the primer pipe, and turned it counter-clockwise about 1-2 degrees. This seems to make the rod hold the roller out instead of pushing it in, and appears so far to have corrected the issue. Now if only I can clean up all the powder I dumped on the floor trying to get this to work before the wife finds out...

New XL750 in 41mag.

Not new to reloading 10 other presses from other comapanies.

the spring accuated primer bar is bunding and does not bring the loaded primer underneith the shell plate and then I get a powder mess.

How to fix? Already cleaned it, dry lubed the slide. Do I need to take completely apart to inspect for a bur of something?

The sencond issue is the long wire sping that drives the priming system that works against the two small plastic roller. ....keeps popping out of it's track. I have adjust the height and and of when it is secured to the metal rod. Works great , then doesn.t....itmakes a mess with powder also.

Anyway to adjust the powder measure drop to wher eit will not drop powder if no primer is in there? One thing I really like about my Hornady L-n-L is no primer, no powder.

If the large wheel of your priming system is hanging up on the mount block, it is a simple matter of adjusting the mount for the bar pivot block. Loosen the bolt (on the pivot block where it attaches to the primer drop tube) and rotate a couple of degrees counterclockwise...this will force the rod to hold the wheel away from the mount block.

So ok I’m having the same EXACT problems with my Dillon XL-750 priming system, I call Dillon and have to wait an hour for callback and tell tech I’m having these problems that I read about here on their website and the tech tells me, and I quote “”I’ve never heard of this problem, this isn't a problem, and I’ve worked here 30 years and he’s never heard anything like this at all””” so the guy is telling me I’m full of shit literally and I didn’t read what I read!!!!??? WTF?

This is my third Dillon and I just added the $300.00 casefeeder and plates and this is how Dillon is going to treat their loyal customers
now? This is bullshit, he got me so pissed and not knowing what to say I didn’t even address all the problems, but he knows all and because he never heard of any of it then it isn’t a problem for users, first of all I needed a new wire form because mine just broke at the upper bend where it sits on the small pulley and he said there is nothing wrong with these pulleys and the only problem they could have is breaking? Mine is an early 750 model and I’ve always had problems with the priming system but hey it’s not a problem and it’s all in my imagination??

The problems I am having is the cup on the seat stem isn’t picking up a primer every time from the tube, about every second or third primer doesn’t get picked up and then the primers pop off the cup as the arm slides forward too so there something going on here, my wheels aren’t aligned and get caught on the frame, then snap forward when the come free and the primer flies off, and then there is also an alloy eke there problem on my toolhead on 9mm, But Dillon doesn’t want to hear it, I get it Covid has shit screwed up and all that crap but don’t take it out on your customers because I’ll sell all this Dillon stuff and go to hornady

New to progressive reloading and after removing the initial factory setup, I too have had the numerous issues with the primer system 1) not seating, 2) no primer in the cup, and 3) the primer slide keeps getting stuck to the rear. I finally read this forum and YouTube online and did the whole bending rod thing, fully cleaned up the primer system and re-greased it.....now I having issue with the priming cup staying down. This is crazy....I have use a small screw driver to pop it back up because it gets totally stuck in the down position. Any recommendations would be very helpful, Dillon? Bueller?

...add me to the list of people who have the lower guide wheel hanging up.

Asinine design, Dillon.

Hey Terp, maybe this video will help you with your wheel:

I have a '650, the one that was supposedly improved, but it's never actually given me any trouble.

Thats my solution:
Mount a clamp on the top-end of the primer slide operating rod, wich retains it on its position... no more stucking primer slide wheel at all...
