Problem with Casefeeder and 270 Win
Quote from Reloader on January 5, 2017, 4:33 pmI've just started getting into reloading .270 Win and I've got a problem with the casefeeder feeding the cases. Using the Large Rifle plate the cases just sit in the slots and rotate past the drop hole.
I've tried both the Low and High speed settings, neither will allow cases the drop. I've removed the little metal spacing tab to allow for the widest possible drop area. Nothing has helped, if i want to use the casefeeder I have to use my fingers and knock the base of the cases down as they pass the drop area for them to fall.
Any idea on why this is happening? I also reload rifle calibers in .223, 300blk, .308, and .30-30 and those all feed fine.

Quote from Reloader on January 5, 2017, 5:19 pmWell they're not preventing the plate from spinning or anything, but do seem like they are a tight enough fit in the slots that they don't want to fall out on their own.

Quote from Reloader on January 6, 2017, 4:37 pmThe notches in the large rifle case feed plate are 2.830" long, much longer than the 2.540" length of a .270 Winchester case.
The notches in a small rifle case feed plate measure 1.850". Please verify that you are using the large rifle case feed plate.

Quote from Reloader on January 6, 2017, 6:29 pmI will, but I'm fairly certain I'm using the Large Rifle since the cases were flat in the slots and not angled as if they were partially sitting in the shorter Small Rifle slots. I'm out of town at the moment and unable to get to my press but I'll update when I am.

Quote from Reloader on March 17, 2017, 1:48 pmAdmin, sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I was using the right shellplate but it seemed to have a slightly tacking coating of old case lube on it. I dampened a rag with alcohol, wiped off the old case lube and the 270 win. brass fed like a champ. Thanks for the replies!
