problem with cases jamming
Quote from Reloader on October 22, 2014, 9:54 amI just bought a brand new xl 650 and I'm having problems with cases getting hung up on the ejector wire. It will completely jam the press up. the cases are .223 and 5.56 and it will jam on either. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Quote from Reloader on October 22, 2014, 3:13 pmCould be a couple different reasons. If you added the "thrust bearing kit" available from hit factor or others on ebay, the ejector wire won't sit down far enough causing it to hang up. Snow shooz has one that allows the wire to fit around it. If your machine is stock, verify that the wire is all the way down the little hole along side the station one locator. Sometimes it pops up a bit leaving it to high. This causes it to flex just enough to hang up the cases. If you've had some spillage, there could be a build up of powder down that hole that prevents the wire from going all the way down. It should be just barely above the shell plate. If neither of those problems exist, look at the wire closely, it may have gotten slightly bent when it hangs up, making the problem more pronounced. It may need tweaking to make it straight. The wire is tough to bend, so you will need a couple pairs of pliers or a vise.
I hope this helps and solves your problem,

Quote from Reloader on October 22, 2014, 9:37 pmI concur, check for bent wire and wire all the way pressed into back hole.
A drop of Hornaday One Shot on the wire is like magic. Slow your up stroke as the shell plate starts to rotate. Give the shell case a chance to start sliding down the wire and out of the shell plate. Slower ends up being faster. Also makes for a smooth primer seating process.

Quote from Reloader on October 23, 2014, 9:03 amI checked everything that was mentioned and they are ok. The press is brand new and all original. Tried the oneshot but the cases still hang up, 2 out of every 10 gets jammed. Hopefully Dillon can help. Thanks for the reply's everyone.

Quote from Reloader on November 13, 2014, 1:49 amI have the same problem. Not as frequent as you. I load a lot of 9mm. I thought it may have been second or third loaded cases but also does it with new cases. I have had my indexer break and think it was due to the case jamming, not for sure just my thought. Love the loader hate the jamming. Hope they find a solution for ya.

Quote from Reloader on November 15, 2014, 7:44 pmI put the Torrington bearing kit on my plate bolt and was having this problem. what I did was take the wire out, put a bend in the wire so the back part was lower (put the circular part of the wire in a vice and bent it back). Haven't had any problems 60K rounds later.

Quote from Reloader on November 24, 2014, 10:48 pmI had this problem. I removed the wire, scrubbed the thing down and wiped it off. I re-installed the wire and I was fine. I think the wire needs to be checked that the end is fully seated into the hole. Make sure the wire hole is clean!

Quote from Reloader on November 26, 2014, 10:25 amPolish the wire in the contact area to a bright finish and apply a bit of case lube to it. For some reason cases seem to want to grab the wire and not eject. Some folks have had good response from bending the wire slightly "out" -towards the direction of the case travel, but I am against that. If it continues to annoy you, contact Dillon for a new, free replacement.

Quote from Reloader on January 16, 2019, 2:16 amI sprayed a little Dillon case lube on the wire and in the slots on the shellplate. Not a problem since I did that.
