Problems feeding primers
Quote from Reloader on May 22, 2009, 1:15 amHello, I have been experiencing a problem with my SDB while loading 9MM. When I get low on primers in the primer tube say 15 or so left it starts having problems feeding the primers reliably. They will try to seat sideways. I have cleaned and lubed the SDB and attempted adjustments to no avail. Again it only happens when I get low on primers. I have tried Federal, Winchester and CCI and all have the same problem. Any Ideas?

Quote from Reloader on May 22, 2009, 2:43 pmThis could have multiple causes. Most likely is that the set screw in the back of the priming system that lines the primer cup up with the plastic magazine tip is off by 1/8 turn one way or the other. If this is the case, the easiest way to adjust it is to remove the primer feed from the machine, dump out any primers in it, then look down thru the empty magazine tube. While looking down thru the tube, slowly pull the primer slide rearward, until it stops. The cup should come to a stop just past being centered under the magazine tube, by maybe half the wall thickness of the cup (not very much!)
The other possibility is that the primer cup and punch aren't fully seated in the primer slide. To test, detach the primer slide from the primer feed. using calipers, measure from the underside of the primer slide to the top of the primer cup. It should be 1.410", +/- .003". If too tall, use a clamp or vise to hold them down while you retighten the set screw.

After I cleaned the oil off everything it worked fine. You may have a slight bend in the bottom of your tube or try replacing the little plastic thingy on the bottom of the tube. but most importantly don't over tighten that top screw thing that the primer signal goes on.
