Problems need help

I have a 550B.  I am reloading 22-250.  I am using IMR 4046 at 36.5 gr, I am loading hornady v-max 50 bullet.  I have 2 problems I need help with.
First I am having trouble with the primer bar sliding forward.  Sometime it get hung up and wont go or will turbo shoot forward.  I have cleaned it several time.  I do not use lube.  My loader is probably 20 years old.  I think maybe a spring replacement might fix this problem.
Second it with the powder.  At random the powder will premature come out.  When the case is going up but yet has not moved the powder bar over.  Also some time at random when coming down after filling the case it will dribble a little powder out.  Some times it just over flows the case.
I have cleaned the press several time.  I have taken it apart.  Happens at random.  I have check all the cases to make sure nothing was in them.  I have also used the same case after a malfunction and it worked fine.  I am using a large powder bar.
I have never had this problem before.  I have loaded some other rifle caliber but never 22-250.  Loaded lots of 45 and 9mm.
thanks for any help at my wits end

Do you have a steel shim plate under your primer slide? If not, contact us for one. If you have one, check it for wear. That is the most likely cause. Also check the op-rod where it fits into the bracket that is clamped around the primer shield. It should freely move in the hole in this bracket. It may need grease in this hole.

Regarding the powder, you are encountering bridging of the powder due to using a long-grained extruded powder into a small diameter case. The powder is logjamming in the small hole in the powder funnel. I suggest switching to a ball or short-grained extruded powder.
