putting 550b measure on a ch H press
Quote from Reloader on March 11, 2009, 12:38 amI load so few rifle calibers I have been preplexed about the expense. of setting up a 550b to do 20 rounds of 444 mariln. I have a CH pistol champ H press for many years . Works with any size rifle or pistol. Sadly a wonderful family member borrowed my Lyman #55 powder mearsure which i used to put on top so i could prime and drop powder at same stateion. I believe I can take the 550 powder mearsure with the powder funnel, sit it on the old CH pistol champ and with some modifications make it function the same way as the powder mesure does on the Dillon.
Just looking at the dillion the powder drop is activated by the case, and that wire thing hanging off the side just rearms and set the poweder slide for the next round. Since the distance between the top plate and the shell holder is similar to the dillion i should be able to make a guide for the "powder Rod" so i will accomplish same task. Sure will be many hours of work to get it set up but retired and will enjoy the challange.
Hope i can get it to work. Seems a shame to spend so much to use all Dillon stuff. When all I want is make use of my old loading dies when only a few rounds will be loaded.
