Rebuild - Primer Seat Cup Alignment
Quote from Reloader on October 17, 2016, 9:24 pmI love my 550B. Being no stranger to mechanical tinkering, I find it's an amazing machine. However, I am struggling on the original and faultless reassembly of the primer cup with plunger. The current condition seems to scrape the aluminum cup into the cartridge plate guide and sometimes jambs all together. In other words - the primer cup slides forward to it's forward and horizontal limit, then the ram descends and jambs at the left rim of the aluminum primer cup.
I have loosened the primer pin lock screw - pressed the ram forward - MANUALLY aligned and engaged the primer cup/spring/pin down to pass through the plate - then retightened the locking screw. Upon releasing the press,... the plate and the primer cup will not self align again.
Presently - I have a process to push the slide slightly right and *wiggle* it to initiate proper alignment.
