Refurbish RL 550B
Quote from Reloader on September 28, 2013, 11:43 amI just picked up an RL 550B and it's been sitting a long time has some rust and is need of a good cleaning and a once over. The color of the blue frame is green in some areas. Is it possible to send this complete reloader and have Dillon go through it? Can the frame be repainted?
Some of the dies (rcbs, hornady, reddington) are all rusty is there a way to get them back in workable order?
What will something like this cost me?
Thanks,
FC3

Quote from Reloader on September 30, 2013, 4:52 pmWe charge $67.95 for our clean and lube service on your 550B. This includes return shipping. Not feasible to strip and repaint it, as the is a baked-on powder coating.
We don't clean other brands of dies, but throw them into a vibratory case cleaner with walnut media, and run them overnight to perform an initial cleanup. If more is required beyond that then glass-beading will be in order. As long as the interior of the dies are not pitted they can be used.

Quote from Reloader on October 7, 2013, 2:31 pmI also scrub and wipe out my dies with a locally made product called Gunzilla. It makes the dies squeaky clean, dries to a slick, dry-lubricated, no-residue surface, and has a mild rust-preventative action. Since it acts as a dry slide lubricant, I found it works better than Graphite for things like the powder and primer slides, too.
