Reload in garage?
Quote from Reloader on January 19, 2013, 5:22 amI'm about to buy a 550B but I have a question about where I should set it up. I have a great work bench in my garage but I live in the SoCal desert and the temperture in there ranges from 100 to 125+ for several months out of the year. I certainly know not to store powder or primers in that environment but I'm wondering if this will damage the press in any way. I'm particulary concerned about plastic components which tend to get brittle in the heat. This will be my first reloader so I'm not sure which components are plastic or if I should even be concerned about this. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Quote from Reloader on January 19, 2013, 7:36 pmI live in Las Vegas and have a 550B. It has been in the garage (without AC) for 20 years and there is absolutely no problem with the unit, metal or plastic materials. The only problem is with the operator (me) in those summer months. I found that jumping in my pool with shorts and t-shirt then going into the garage alleviates the mid summer desert heat while reloading. The 550B doesn't have any problem in the heat. Have fun!

Quote from Reloader on January 19, 2013, 8:29 pmYou must be close to Death Valley (125 degrees). I live in Phoenix, and seen that once (about 20 years ago) and all of my Dillon presses have always lived in the garage and I never had had any problems. I would not worry about the parts on the press in normal desert temps.
Now using the press in those temps are yet another story.
