Reloading 6mm Arc
Quote from Reloader on September 3, 2020, 5:47 pmI'm wanting to load some of the new 6mm ARC, but not sure about base plate and powder funnel. I think I need the base plate that is for 6.5 Grendel, since the cases have the same base. I'm wondering if I need the powder funnel for 6mm since the neck, of course, is at 6mm?
Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The 6mm PPC kit would be your best choice, but if you have a '650 or '750, the conversion kit is out of stock. You could get just a 6 PPC funnel and a Grendel kit if you are in a hurry, or even a 7.62 x 39 AK kit.

Quote from Reloader on September 25, 2020, 2:10 amI bought a 6 PPC funnel preemptively, and can definitively say that it won't work with 6mm ARC, its "neck hole" is only .268". The PPC cartridge has a .263" neck. 6mm ARC has a .275" neck. Fortunately, I have a very small boring bar, and by the time you read this, mine will have been modified. The length of the funnel is 1.970", which is the same as the .223 #A powder funnel.

Quote from Reloader on September 25, 2020, 4:10 amOkay, major surgery was required. The 6mm PPC has a much longer neck and a different shoulder angle. The 6mm ARC has a 0.030" shorter neck than the Grendel. I had to cut the 6MM PPC die 0.140" shorter and bore out the taper.
I don't think there is a good choice for 6mm ARC powder funnel from Dillon, and they should probably make yet another funnel. The .243 Winchester has a longer neck and different taper, so the ARC probably wouldn't fit well in there without hitting the shoulder, but I don't actually have one to try.
A guy on the AR15.com forum said he called Dillon and they told him the 6mm PPC funnel would work. Unless they changed them since they made the one I bought from Graf's, he's going to be very disappointed.
