Rifle case lube

I run a 550B and usually load handgun. Switched out and have been loading .223 with no issues this forum is a huge help thanks to all. My question is I decide early on to tumble brass lube then deprime followed by checking size cleaning primer pocket and trimming if needed. Can I retumble brass then load primers and finish out the round without relubing? I read somewhere that lube was not needed if you have already full length resized. I really don't want a stuck case so should I just go ahead and relube and just run the press as normal? Hope that makes sense. Thanks all

This is what works for me. I will normally lightly tumble about 500 to 1000 cases of brass just to get the dirt and residue off of the brass. Then I'll lube the brass and run it through the die Depriming and and sizing the brass and  trimming for 1.750 and swagging if needed. I'll do a through inspection then do another  3 to 4 hour tumble to remove the lube and get the brass looking like new. Afterward I bag the brass with a label so I know what I have done to that lot. Now when I am ready to load for the range, I will raise the die high enough so that station one is not used for anything  but inserting a primer and off I go. That works for me because I have gotten the prep work out of the way and I am able to focus on the loading process. Hope this helps and enjoy the press.

You can do that, but if you don't run a decapping rod thru the cases before priming, you run the risk of having a clogged flash hole and having a squib round.

Best bet is to leave the lube on until the rounds are loaded and place the ammo in a tumbler for 5-10 minutes to remove the lube.

Thanks for the response guys. I thought about pulling the die as you say Godsboy but I'm looking to reduce the steps plus I preload thousands of rounds for the range. I just loaded all the rounds up in a Tupperware bowl still lubed after depriming so I will just run the press normally and I should be good to go. Thanks again

I use a separate toolhead just for resize/deprime dies and lock them to the desired setting. I tumble the lube off the cases and use a Lee universal deprime die in station 1 on the toolhead setup for the loading process to get anything out of the flash hole. If you tumble loaded rounds you may alter the burn rate of the powder which could be very unpleasant.

I do the same as GLAK. I keep a seperate tool head just for re-sizing and depriming rifle cases. Trim, deburr inside and out. Then wet tumble with stainless steal.
I leave station 1 empty and just use the priming station. This keeps me in the same rythem for when I do pistol reloading.
It works for me. Be safe.
