RL 450 Upgrade
Quote from Reloader on February 16, 2014, 6:41 amI recently had a rl 450 given to me by a family member. The ram has some minor rust along with the handle. The press still works, but I'm thinking about upgrading to the auto primer feed and auto powder drop. Before I spend the money, is there anything I need to check on this press? Are there any other parts I will need? I don't plan on changing the frame, I just want to update the primer and powder systems. I know I'll need caliber specific shell plates and powder funnel/case mouth expander. Thanks.

Does your machine have a four-armed sprocket on top of the shellplate to advance it? Does the loaded cartridge get ejected from the shellplate as you rotate it, or do you remove it by hand?

Quote from Reloader on February 17, 2014, 7:50 pmIt does have the ejector already installed. I noticed the 550 has a plate by station 1 that has a spring that retains the cartridge in station one. Mine does not have this plate/spring, it just has the spent primer chute there. Do I need this plate? When I place my order, I will also need a manuel and the punch/alignment tool, because I need to take this thing apart for a lube job. Thanks!
