Roller handle

Is the roller handle worth the money? I have reloaded 4K 9mm, 1K 38 Spl, 2K 45 ACP with the standard "Ball" handle with no complaints. So...how would the roller handle, plastic or aluminum be helpful? Which would be better, aluminum or plastic?

Thanks in advance for the advice!!

John

John, I love my roller handle and would never give it up. I do some small batches on a single stage press and I dread the ball handle. You spend a good deal of cash on a machine, get the roller...Hope this helps, jj

thank you...seems I can use the ball... you r very helpful

I have two Dillon 650 both with blue aluminum handle.  It feels alot better and less stress when you crank a small or large amount.  Plus it look super sexy.

Another vote for the roller handle. The only problem now is I have to figure out what to use the ball handle on. (I'm thinking a T-Bucket shifter)

I have both the 550 and 650, they are about 2' apart (center to center).  Have roller handle on both as well...

I have loaded tons with the ball handle and wore a cheap fabric glove on right hand (used also for winter shooting matches, no trigger finger).  It is polished in the palm from reloading...

Getting the roller handle was VERY beneficial.

Spend some time trying slightly different rotational positions (based on where you sit relative to the machine and bench).  A small change (5 degrees) made a big difference to how my wrist felt over the entire stroke.

Also, having the roller on the 550 (on the left of the 650) does restrict the room for the bullets when using the 650.

I used some lube for the bearing surface inside the roller handle, made a big difference... happy bearings..

My understanding (from physics and human factors research) is that the roller handle is simply more ergonomic. Less stress on the hand, arm, and more efficient. Plus the roller stays fixed in the palm of your hand rolling on the handle shaft. This is much less wear on your hand. The roller handle was one of the first 650XL accessories I purchased. Well worth the money.

Guess i used my RCBS Big Max for so long that it just ruined me for a ball handle..  Plus the blue matches my eyes.. Seriously i have used both.. and the ergonomics of the roller handle are much superior to a ball handle and much more gentle to the palm of my hand..

I got a roller and absolutely love it.

I don't know which might be better.
