SDB - 9mm problem

I have the Square Deal B, using 9mm dies. The problem is, that when cycling, the handle will not completely come to the stop on the frame. Also, on stage 1, for resizing, the case will not fully go into the die to be resized, actually laving the case slightly deformed. I can't see anything actually stopping it from cycling properly. I have even inserted other dies ( I also reload .45ACP, .44Mag/.44Spl & .38Spl/.357Mag) to see if I can spot what may be hitting to stop the cycle. I see nothing out of the ordinary.

All the other calibers cycle & load perfectly, making beautiful rounds, but not the 9mm.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

James

When you pull the handle down with a case in station 1, does the bottom of the die contact the top of the shellplate? Is the ejector wire sandwiched between the bottom of the die and the top of the shellplate? If yes, then the ejector wire is in the wrong position; it should be behind the shellplate bolt, not across it.

Check the decapper stem in your sizing die. Sometimes the stem works loose and interferes with the operation of the press.

Any chance you have the wrong sizing insert in the sizing/decapping station or the wrong decapping unit?

A too-short insert as that for a 380 would not size the case all the way and a too-long decapper would stop the case by bottoming out inside it too soon.

Dillon,
I am having this same problem with my 9mm die at station #1. I have been loading 38spcl on press and just changed to 9mm with brand new die set.  As you mentioned, the die bottom does contact the shellplate and the ejector wire is in the correct position (even removed to verify).  Currently, the once-fired brass leaves station #1 narrower at the top of the case and wider at base (approx 1/4" from base).
I've checked the deprimming stem and removed toolhead to make sure die insert is correct for 9mm.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Dan
