SDB Crimp station 4
Quote from Reloader on December 8, 2008, 10:53 pmCan you school me a bit on how the crimp station works? I have been running my old style SDB for about 2 months. New to cartridge reloading. Have ran and shot most of 2K .45. Like it a lot. However, I have bottomed out the Crimp die and can not for the life of me figure out how it works. There appears to be an insert inside the tool head upon which the die bottoms and while it moves I can not move it in or out any. The crimp station does not seem to do anything or have any contact with the case. I can't find the inserted part on the diagram. I bought the unit used and just returned from a trip home. I am not using much bell so is working ok I guess. Thanks.

Quote from Reloader on December 9, 2008, 6:20 pmFirst, establish that the crimp insert is in place in the frame. The stop plug in the top of the toolhead doesn't crimp, it only controls how far the crimp die gets pushed up until it stops. Next, in 45ACp, it is a taper crimp, not a roll crimp. THe amount of crimp applied is not huge. If possible, after confirming the crimp die is present, phone us when you can be in front of the machine for assistance.

Quote from Reloader on December 9, 2008, 10:32 pmThanks, yep it is there. Measurement with die bottomed is between 470 and 471 on brass where bullet is seated. I just don't feel any resistance at all when crimping. All is likely normal they loaded cartridges work fine. Thanks for the response
