SDB Problem

Your answer to him may not be my problem since my friend had loaded several hundred rounds of .44 Special before trying to convert to .45 ACP.
I did note that the primer slide return spring seemed to be stretched on the back half which makes it too long/soft so that the slide does not go fully forward. Pushing it forward with a finger as you operate the handle allows the primer cup to center and go up thru the shell plate.
Q2. Am I correct in concluding that the spring is the problem?
Do not have the press at my location to check the measurement that you gave to WDPhillips.
