SDB question
Quote from Reloader on February 22, 2008, 9:37 pmI have owned an SDB since the early 90's and have loaded countless thousands of 45 ACP and 9mm rounds both lead and FMJ.
Recently, I have noticed that I am getting between 5-10% of the reloads that do not fit correctly in the case guage. After I finish, I take out the brass pin that coincides with the seating die, place the rounds, reseat, and re-crimp. This usually cures the problem, although I have had to go back and repeat the process multiple times.
This problem while not huge is annoying because I find myself running each and every round through the case guage to segregate the good rounds from the bad. While I am able to load between 300 and 400 rounds an hour, it takes me much longer to check each round. I used to only check about every 10th round or so with no hiccups.
What could be my problem?

I emailed your people as you suggested and this is the reply that I received. I am tad bit insulted by the person that "read" my email. Obviously they didn't read the entire thread nor did the person read my email completely. If they had, they would have realized that I am not a novice reloader. I have tried their suggestion and as you know over-crimping can be dangerous (over pressure)at worst and detrimental to accuracy (at best). For the first time I am very disappointed in Dillon's customer service.

station 4 down a little bit.

Email your address to me; garyk@dillonprecision.com and I will mail a replacement friction plate to you. I usually answer all the e-mail, but was out last Wednesday. I don't recall seeing your email. Either way, my apologies. I will get you taken care of.

I received the friction plate about a week ago maybe more - I've flat out at work and time is flying by. In any event, I installed it last weekend and my SDB is back in 100% mode.
I appreciate all of your help. I will continue to heap praise on Dillon Precision, its products, and its customer service.
