seated primer W/indent

I have noticed that after seating the primer there is a slight indentation in the center of primer. When I back off applying pressure to the primer, then it does not advance to next stage!

what machine? What caliber, brand of brass, brand of primer? Check the seating punch surface for debris, such as a primer cup shaving or flake of powder.

I had the same problem, it was a brass shaving on the primer punch, cleaned it off and everything is fine.

I have the same issue with my SDB small primer seat. I took a close look and there is a slight inperfection on the surface of the primer punch that the primers sit on. that slight inperfection gets multiplied when you seat your primer. I have thought about filing down or sanding the top of the little punch, just dont know if it will affect the seating in any way. Dillon, any recommendaitons.

Feel free to use a stone or dremel to polish down any high spots on the punch surface. These parts are turned out on a screw machine, and on occasion will leave a tiny tit on the face. This is merely cosmetic.
