Seller won't let me take the car for an inspection, should I walk?
Quote from josestanton on November 5, 2026, 12:16 pmBeen going back and forth with a private seller over a car I quite like, but every time I bring up getting it inspected before purchase he gets evasive. First he said he's too busy, then he said inspections are a scam, now he's saying someone else is interested so I need to decide fast. The pressure tactics are honestly making me want to run, but the car is a good spec and fairly priced so I keep second guessing myself. I've been reading up on what an inspection actually covers, you can click here to see the sort of checks involved, and it's nothing invasive, just a proper look at the mechanicals and history. If a seller won't allow that, I can't help thinking there's a reason. Has anyone walked away from a car over this and regretted it, or pushed through and wished they hadn't?
