Set up
Quote from Reloader on January 27, 2019, 5:52 pmI moved into a new home , and I don't have a room for reloading anymore , so now I have to reload in the garage . I have 2 Dillon 650s still packed in boxes . I don't want to unpack them until I have a new bench . I need to know how shallow (front edge to wall ) I can make it . I only have 16" between the side wall , and the garage door track . I want to put doors on the front , to keep the presses out of sight when the garage door is open . If I only have the 16 " will that be enough room to mount my 650s with the case feeder ?

I just measured my 650 and you should be good. But just barely. If you are using a strong mount, you my need to have the front edge flush with the bench. My suggestion is to assemble the press with the case feeder and slide it as far back as you can to give you more bench for fasteners in the front, otherwise, there won't be much lumber at the front to hold the fasteners. My bench is 26 1/2" deep and I have 10 1/2" of space behind my case feeder, and only one inch of wood in front of the strong mount, so my handle barely clears the front of the bench on the down stroke.

Quote from Reloader on January 28, 2019, 4:19 pmThere is a small lip on the bottom of the XL650 that prevents it going back too far when mounted without a strong mount. What may happen is, if your bench is too thick, the bottom of the handle where the nut is, may make contact with a thick bench. You can always modify a bench, if that is the case. Just something to be aware of.
