Setting up sizing die
Quote from Reloader on April 7, 2017, 12:29 amDo I need a fired case as a guide to setup my Dillon sizing die? I have brand new 223 Lapua cases. And all cases seems consistent and good when I drop it in the case gauge. Head is flush with the bottom step of the gauge. Case mouth is also flush with bottom step of gauge. With the calipers, I'm getting 1.750-1.754 at the most.

Quote from Reloader on April 8, 2017, 3:19 pmIt is easier to set headspace using a fired case, but quite honestly, you can skip the size die if you are loading new Lapua brass. Their brass is among the highest quality in production. Since it is already at minimum headspace, you won't gain anything by sizing it again.

Quote from Reloader on April 11, 2017, 9:55 pmThanks.. though, I had to setup the sizing die still. As I slightly crunch one of the case while setting up the powder die. I turned it down a little too much. Then I setup the sizing die while watching the video here, brought the crunch case back to specs again. Check with the Dillon case gauge and the calipers reading 1.751..
