Shell Plate sticking on Primer cup
Quote from Reloader on July 18, 2020, 6:12 amI'm having my first problem with my SDB in many years. It has developed a problem where the shell plate seems to stick on the primer cup. After leaving the sizing die and moving to station 2 the shell plate hangs on the primer cup. If I back off the lever arm it clicks into the correct position. I've adjusted the height of the primer cup (1.410") to no avail. Customer service mentioned "adjusting" the primer feed adjustment screw but I've adjusted in both directions only to get what you see in these videos.

Possibly the detent ball or detent spring? Any help is appreciated. I miss my SDB.

It could also be that the index pawl end is worn enough where it pushes the shellplate around that it isn't pushing the shellplate far enough for the detent ball to locate the shellplate. If you manually rotate the shellplate, then push forward on the handle, does the primer cup come up through it?

The videos are now set to unlisted so you should be able to see them. The primer cup is not aligned at the end of the stroke looking down the powder die. If I pull the arm back "slightly" the shell plate rotates backwards to line up fine. I spoke with Sam at tech support today and he is sending a new pawl. In the mean time after 23+ years I just purchased a new SDB today. Thanks for the help and all the outstanding work you guys do for the customer.
