Shell Plates

I just ordered my new RL550B press set up to load .40 s&w, i am also going to load .45acp. I ordered the dies for the .45 but not a different shell plate. Will the 45 load with a .40 shell plate ?

I am new to reloading, this is my first machine.

40 S&W takes shell plate number 5 and 45ACP will take shell plate number 1.

Here is a cross reference chart for the RL 550B from Brian Enos's website. Being new to reloading this website has a vast amount of information from the, been there and done that crowd. I started reloading back in the middle of 08 and I have found this site to be a great resource. Good luck.
