shellplate rotates counterclockwise

while trying to learn about a newly acquired SDB, I've come across another issue. On the down-stroke; the shellplate rotates counter-clockwise to the point that at the end of the down-stroke, the cases have moved back to the prevoius station. It seems the indexer lever is hooking the shellplate when it should just be moving under it. On the up-stroke it then does rotate it clockwise again. Should the indexer be replaced ?? and how do you get to it ?? Also, would the de-tent ball and spring have anything to do with this ??

Just for an FYI, this is a newly rehabed unit and I've made bullets on it without issue; it just started this.

It sounds like the detent ball is either missing or clogged up and unable to apply pressure to the shellplate. Remove the shellplate, verifiy the ball is there and is springloaded up.

thanks for the reply. I'll take it apart and check it out this weekend.

boy, you guys at Dillon sure got this one right...as always. Took the shellplate off and no detent ball. Not sure what happened to it; I did take the shellplate off before , maybe it "sprung out" onto the floor or something. Well. I have a SDB spare parts kit so I had another one to replace it. Put it all back together and its all working correctly...........THANKS DILLON !!!!!!!!!
